I hated Scrappy Doo

Finally worked out what was wrong with the painting ( it’s becoming almost infamous now, well, in my head it is)
So I’m steaming ahead with it now, it’s such a bloody relief, now I know I won’t have to sit there looking at it, or fiddling with it, or doing anything besides just painting the bloody thing.
And on the social side of things, I’m off out tonight to see the Salty Taste of Punk at The Furnace, Swindon.Weird, because I lived there for three years, and never went there once, now I live in Wootton Bassett again, and now I choose to go…I think I need my head read sometimes…in my defence, there was no-one I could go with, or at least that’s my excuse… and that’s another thing. When I lived here before, or wherever I’ve lived, I’ve never worried about going out on my own, but Swindon, yeuch, didn’t like doing it there at all…can’t bloody stop going out now, and I’m not complaining at all ;)
Also been invited to take part in a group exhibition in the Arts Centre, Old Town, beginning of next year, so I’ll try and stick the next painting in there, plus do another too, but the first one’s going to be called ‘Smile like Scooby-Doo’, or hopefully it will anyway.

Morning, because it mostly is, another half hour and it won’t be.
Went to see Hacksaw and Two Sick Monkeys again last night in Bristol.I have to congratulate Hacksaw too, on using a very fine quality toilet paper, none of your plastic coated rubbish that just slides off everything. And if you want to know what I’m talking about, go and see them. Also have to congratulate 2SM for heckling-response.Haven’t heard the Worm Song sung like that, made me laugh like hell.
I suppose I’d better chuck something in about art or something, so….Turner prize eh? Given the choice I’d go for Anya Gallacio.I like the idea of something that changes, and the juxtaposition (woo – big word!) of static v organic material.
I always wanted to do a painting that did that, changed as you looked at it, but without video, it’s not possible, organic or mechanical sculpture would be the next best thing I suppose.
Still wrestling with the painting, don’t know if it’s the same for other people, but sometimes it’s almost like a mental block, or some bloody obstacle you have to haul yourself over to get something done.I really can’t wait to finish it so I can go onto other things.
And I didn’t win my pool game….but there’s always next week… ;)

I love this time of year, when the rain starts, and wind picks up, and you get snappy frosty mornings. And you can curl up on the sofa with a book, a cup of tea, some cigarettes and watch the rain splatter on the windows.
Anyway, today is just painting ( yup, same painting, I’m not that quick ), and playing pool later on for The Angel, a local pub, hopefully this week I may even win my game….
Have a few more paintings planned, hopefully properly this time, but I want to finish this one first, I’m not good at keeping lots of things on the boil, painting-wise, and I have noticed recently, the more I paint, the less I do in the sketchbook and vice-versa.

happy hangover

Well, it certainly is, and remember, remember to buy some Resolve next time you stupid girl ( sorry, talking to myself)
Yesterday I did try to get a Free Blog thing to work, from Blogger.com, but I’m doing something wrong with ftp, can’t get it to accept a different password, so it’ll be this till I do. And on to the bands.I did say I wasn’t going to critique them, I lied. Well, Hacksaw were fucking excellent,go to their site and listen to ‘Do Not Feed the Geese’
I know it isn’t fashionable to say this, but I’ve almost had enough of bands going ‘listen to my pain’ when they’re playing, it was brilliant to listen to something funny, loud and (to steal a word) quality.
Same goes for Two Sick Monkeys, I think they’re fantastic. Shame Carl from Kickout wasn’t there, he would have been screaming ‘metalllllll!!’ at one point. And my much-vaunted (I like that word) tights? Well, I stuck a fag in them aroundabout 8 o’clock, won’t be wearing them again….
Right, off to paint today, get on with that bloody first painting again.
