there’s something I really like about the underground. The idea of all these people being filtered from place to place, the same kind of thing as rush hour traffic.Everyone filters back to themselves, like watching time-lapse photgraphy.

and on the same Stranglers note, their rider apparently included champagne, pineapples and grapes.

…from Morecambe Wasted Festival and knackered, but bloody hell, what a bloody good time I had.
I saw a main few bands, not as many as I saw last year ( lingering sicknesses of one kind or another, and no, nothing to do with alcohol except the lack of it ), but most of who I saw, were really good, and a few were excellent.
The biggest disappointement, it was like watching a car crash of all your childhood memories, was The Stranglers.I battled through four songs before I gave up in disgust, not least because of the prima donna singer whose hand gestures made it seem like incompetence on behalf of the stage and sound guys, but was more likely to have been due to his own over-inflated ego.
Best surprise was Goldblade, I have to see them again, the whole atmosphere was….pick a superlative.
Plus there was the added bonus of celebrity spotting, Lars Frederiksen himself.I would have taken a picture, but it was a holiday, he wasn’t playing ( well, except for with GBH ), so my conscience won over, and I didn’t ask, but bloody hell, I could have a great painting out of that….poo…ah well…
Some bands I’ve seen before, and I saw them again, and they were as good, or better than before, Da Skywalkers, Subhumans,The Dead Pets, The Briefs, NY Rel-x, The Business. Some I saw again and they were a bit lacklustre, Anti-Nowhere League especially.
And some I hadn’t seen at all that were bloody great, Stuntface and Angelic Upstarts, and as previously mentioned, Goldblade.
I paid 65 quid for a ticket to see bands from Thursday to Sunday, over 4 stages, over a hundred bands.Good value no? And this year I had the added bonus of not having my bag nicked, so it can only be good.
Now I’d better start eating vegetables again, since the only ones I’ve eaten since Tuesday were the onions on my burgers and the half tomato with my breakfast ( I know, someone already pointed pickily out that they’re not a vegetable, they’re a fruit )
rambling again

I’m not sure that Britain as a nation( and have you noticed that on breakfast tv, they’re dumbing down? I watched some the other morning morning, they used certain words, then explained what they meant..why? do they think their audience is stupid? ) actually pays that much attention to other cultures in terms of art.
We used to be ( and still are ) a mongrel nation, invaded by other countries, who took over, again and again. We’ve had, through that and proximity, quite a close relationship with European art, and also a love/hate relationship with American art.
Anything else though, forget it.We treat art from other countries like knick-knacks, they become craft rather than art, and so we look down on them, or pieces get put into museums and become part of a sociological structure rather than an art historical one.
no shortage of volunteers
for this one I suspect. Art pub crawl
and..and!!

I’m going to Morecambe tomorrow for another Wasted festival..
Whoopeee!!
One of the best ’show’ bands I saw there last year…The Adicts
at last!!
I’ve finished designing the artwork for a C.D
The band seem happy enough with it so far, although a proof has yet to come back from the place they’re using to press the C.D’s and do the artwork, I’m hoping that it will turn out ok
I made a mock-up, I was very chuffed, it was all the right size, only trouble was, my printer didn’t do the colours justice (glossy paper makes such a difference)
developing obsession
I’m developing, or have developed, a fascination with feet, shoes and what they do.Last year when I went to Morecambe for the Wasted festival, I started doing a photo-journal of the feet of the two people I went with, then my camera got stolen ( bye bye ) and I never really got anything done with that one.
Now it’s rearing it’s head again..
