life drawing
Sunday, July 31, 2005

well, i went life drawing. i really enjoyed it, six hours worth, minus breaks of course. i discovered just how bad i’ve got at drawing from doing it tho. the pic i’ve put up is one of the least embarassing ones i did, which should tell you just how bad i was. it’s got that ‘just-left-school-attending-college’ look about it
i spent the morning being equal parts glad i was doing something, and frustrated as hell that my hand wouldn’t do what my brain told it to, and that i couldn’t see proportions, tones etc etc. in the afternoon, i got on with it and just drew. of course, that was after i managed to spill water on one of the chairs, drop my bottle of water, cough like hell because i’ve got a cold starting, and generally, just being clumsy-nic
the people who were running todays class are hoping to start up a weekly class early next year. i’ll be the first to sign up.

.this weekend, i have today, saturday and sunday off ( i know it sounds weird, but when you work three on-three off, you don’t get normal weekends. i like it because when i want to go and do something, there’s not that many people around doing the same thing. i also hate it because you have a very strange social life )
today, i’ll be painting, web-surfing, then going to bodmin with 2SM. on saturday, more painting. on sunday, life drawing. it’ll be the first time i’ve been life drawing since i was in college.
it should be interesting
i may post the results, i may not, depends on how bad i was

trip in the offing
Monday, July 25, 2005
i’m going to italy in august to visit my relatives. i have already been warned by my mother not to wear anything ‘weird’, otherwise i’ll embarrass her, or give her a brutta figura
when i went when i was eighteen, i had my head shaved round the sides and back, and it was long enough on top to hide it when it wasn’t in a ponytail. my mother hated it ( enter the embarrassment factor), my italian grandmother loved it, she thought it was very practical for the heat.
as americans say, go figure..
and my cousin was fascinated/horrified that i had a tattoo
01.19 pm
and it’s late ( relatively speaking) and i’m quite drunk ( again, relatively speaking)
i enjoy being drunk, i enjoy the freedom to get enthusiastic about stuff, it frees me up to say things i don’t normally say
like how much i really like so-and-so’s work for what they do with space, with colour, with modern symbols.on the other hand, it also frees me up to do the opposite.
you win some, you lose some…you get distracted and trip over completely flat floors, imagine you’re being witty and shout at innocent plants, stumble into toilets and think, you-will-be-sober, and fail miserably.
and the next day, when you sober up, you think, omg!! i said that/did that, and then you want to erase it.
rest assured, i wont be erasing this.stupidity should be embraced occasionally, because it renders you indifferent to convention

toilet graffiti

i laughed out loud at the first one, which earned me some funny looks when i got out of the toilet
reading about graffiti and it’s origins, i came across this one from Pompei
Wall, I am amazed that you haven’t fallen in ruins considering the weight of your disgusting inscriptions
quoted from history of graffiti
again, nothing changes…

when i know i’m home..
Saturday, July 23, 2005

i just get up to bristol from the severn bridge and i see my favourite bridge. i like it because it reminds me of the sixties, and watching old british black + white footage of one car driving down an endless strip of motorway
I’ve just had hours of fun at britishpathe.com looking for stuff like that and got distracted by all the other stuff available, watching news clips from 1955 etc
