christmas

i managed to have a relaxing time, mostly because i didn’t do the old run-around round various houses and friends houses ( i apologise for that, but this year, doing absolutely nothing was very important to me and i erred on the selfish side ), i read some pulp-fiction, sat in front of a fire all day with my beloved, ate all night, and collapsed early and slept long.
i feel incredibly rested

Christmas is for children. But it is for grown-ups too. Even if it is a headache, a chore, and a nightmare, it is a period of necessary defrosting of chilled hidebound hearts

merry christmas
Thursday, December 22, 2005
yet another christmas when i’m not ready for anything and everything is very last minute. because i work weird shifts, days really creep up on you, and before you know it, it’s too late ::sigh:: ah well…

i love christmas, i’m not a christian, but i do believe in santa, no matter how wrong that sounds
and do you know? (and this will sound even more stupid) i never actually noticed how much of a resemblance there is between santa’s depiction, and the way the christian god is usually personified…
i found the santa on the left on a doll-makers site, Bonnie Jones i think the faces are very well done
there is another doll-makers site i go to look at sometimes, Marlaine Verhelst, her dolls are fantastic, something like a physical version of Molly Hills paintings.
i love this one

anyway, i won’t be updating here for a few days since i’ll be visiting my family, so merry christmas to you all, eat, drink, and be very merry

i used to live in Cardiff, loved it, always somewhere to go, something to do, exhibitions to see, galleries to visit, studio’s to go poke over, fantastic shops tucked away in alleys, art supplies, regular life-drawing at Llanover Hall, ad infinitum…
but..
i like where i am now more

christmas shopping
Friday, December 16, 2005
i spent a fruitless afternoon shopping for presents for my father and couldn’t find what i wanted so i went into sainsburys for a rest
there was something really forlorn about my meagre pot of tea -
tea’s not proper tea unless it comes in a huge mug, strong enough to strip the enamel off your teeth
or

i went to London last night.
discovered that although it may be the place to be if you’d like some attention ( as far as music, art, etc is concerned ) then my response was no thank you very much.
visiting, i don’t mind – living there, not a snowballs chance…
although i admit, the pretty lights turned my head
what are you looking for…
